Everest Gokyo Trekking is the ultimate backpacking hike in the Khumbu region of Nepal. It is a fairly popular trekking program among the hikers around all over  the world. Everest Gokyo trekking starts from Lukla and about three hours to reach Phakding. However, after Namche, the trail veers off from the track to Tengboche and passes the villages of  Dole and Machhermo instead. It provides an alternative  route to Everest base camp trekking. It is a strenuous trek regarding high altitude. The Gokyo Lakes are considered sacred by both Hindus and Buddhist religion.
Everest-Gokyo-Lake
From Kyanjuma via  Machhermo the trail leads us to Gokyo. This program gives us a day around mesmerizing Gokyo lake for sightseeing. Gokyo Ri trekking offers an unparalleled view of Mount Everest and the Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga and Cho Oyu peaks. Gokyo (4,750 m, 15,583 ft above sea level), at the base of Gokyo Ri, is a small hamlet of a few stone houses and one of the highest settlements in the world. From Gokyo we head to the Base Camp via Ngozugba glacier, Gonglha, Thanga and Labuche. Ngozugba is the largest glacier of Nepal. We make our return journey to Lukla via Labuche, Tengboche and Namche bazaar. From the Gokyo valley you can cross the Renjola pass to get in to Thame valley. There is fine trail for Renjo La Pass from  Gokyo valley.
Trek continues across the Cho La (5,420m/17,782ft) a classic pass which links Gokyo with the Khumbu Glacier and the small settlement of Lobuche. You ascend Kala Pattar (5,545m/18,192ft) for the best views of Everest followed by a tough trek along the Khumbu Glacier to Everest Base camp. And here at the foot of the mountain you can marvel at the spectacle of the great Khumbu ice-fall cascading from the ramparts of the West ridge with a sense of achievement and a little remorse. Our return journey will take us to Tengboche monastery, the most important center of Buddhism in the area. After ending our trek at Lukla we have another opportunity to experience the exciting mountain flight to Kathmandu.
